Just remember that nothing in the world ever happens in business until someone sells something.
While we can all admire newsworthy entrepreneurs such as Elon Musk and rave about his brilliance, just remember that someone in the Tesla organisation has to sell their motor vehicles. If nobody buys their cars and they don’t have a business.
For that matter, think of any organisation you admire, even not-for-profit. Just remember that everybody sells something. Here in Australia, a wonderful organisation called World Vision provides help to needy children in impoverished communities worldwide. How do they provide support to these underprivileged children? They sell monthly subscriptions to sponsors.
If we think about the not-for-profit sector for a moment, an organisation like World Vision have to continually be prospecting in person on the phone as there is a high churn rate in the not-for-profit space. Your organisation might be luckier due to the fact that your products or services have a lower churn rate. Regardless, never forget that prospecting and acquiring new customers is the sales engine that drives every organisation – including yours. So, you happy with the matter prospecting you’re doing each week to generate new business opportunities?
